If I don’t use this breath
to get your words out
I’ve proven myself unworthy
of the time so graciously given.
If I fail to stand on truth
and walk in love
then I have insulted
the blood spilled on my behalf.
I open myself up to You
have mercy and open up the table once more
bring the flesh
bring the blood
I’ll give my life
though it will never cover the cost.
Yet,
who am I to speak of a cost?
An ancient debt
already paid.
Death and doom
both silenced
Your reign
solidified eternal.
May I not even consider
the cost
for in the light of Your face
it means nothing.
I am to be laid down before you
in humility
and joyous servitude
to be made whole by your compassion
and set forth
into the world.
Break the jaw of the wicked.
